Restaurang Sjöhästen / R.I.P.

We are sad to tell you that one of our favourite restaurants in Stockholm will be closing today.
"Sjöhästen" (The Seahorse) have been with us since the time around the album "Writers Block" and we actually think that we played "Young Folks" live for the very first time at this place.

We also used to run our awesome club "Lucky You" at this restaurant and just recently we have talked about purchasing / investing in a jukebox that would have been perfect for this relaxed and very wonderful place.

Since our rehearsal space is located in the same house we are now also a bit worried about where to go for a pre-rehearsal dinner or for inspirational beverages.

Thank you Kalle for running this place and we hope that the next owner will keep on running this place with grace.

THE PETER BJORN AND JOHN - BIRTHDAY TOUR

It was 10 years ago this November that Peter Morén, Björn Yttling and John Eriksson decided to form a band called "Peter Bjorn And John".
On November 21, 1999 the band had their first rehearsal. Now, to celebrate the fact that they are still playing together after 10 years, PB&J are going to do a special "surprise birthday tour" in select cities around North America.
This anniversary tour will feature special and never-before seen events:
*In every city there will be one or several secret special surprise guests!(Dancers, singers, rappers, folkrock artists, jazz musicians, celebrities, stand-up comedians, magicians…)
* Every night the band will play some rare old/brand new or never-before-heard songs.
* The amazing and award-winning light master "Ed Warren" is putting together a special "Birthday Light Show" just for this tour.
* Our favourite singer, "El Perro Del Mar," and her Swedish "All Star Trio" will open up each night playing music from her brand new record.
* There will be whistling contests in every or some cities. The winners will get to be onstage performing "Young Folks" with PB&J!
* Peter Bjorn And John will be giving out free tickets to the shows through their twitter page.
* Special Peter Bjorn And John merch items will be given away for free after the shows.

* This will also be the last tour PB&J will make before going into the studio, so if you can’t wait until 2011 you should go and sing Happy Birthday.

UK Dates Cancelled!!!

Peter Bjorn And John are deeply and sincerely sorry
but we are unfortunately forced to cancel the upcoming
gigs in the United Kingdom and Ireland.
Being our first longer UK-run in a couple of years it's
a great shame but due to things out of our control concerning
family matters we simply can't pursue the tour at the moment.
These things are a little to personal to go into here,
but we really do hope you all understand.
To those of you who have bought tickets and were
looking forward to the shows as much as we did,
we hope we can come back soon and make it up to you. Refunds will be available from every promoter.
Once again we are truly sad and sorry about this
and just know we haven't forgot you!

EVERYBODY'S TALKING ABOUT HORTLAX COBRA

IS JOHN'S FIRST AWESOME SOLO-EP!

"EVERYBODY`S TALKING ABOUT HORTLAX COBRA" is the first EP in a Vinyl-EP-triology created by HORTLAX COBRA. (John)

This first EP was recorded in Stockholm between January and August 2008
and the second EP ("NOBODY KNOWS HORTLAX COBRA")
is being created right now in Buenos Aires, Argentina and will be
finished in Havanna, Cuba two days before new years eve.

All the three limited vinyl-EP's are made in 222 copys and contains six songs each.
All music written, recorded, produced, fucked-up and handled by HORTLAX COBRA.
The first EP can be found in a few record stores in the middle of November and as downloads somewhere.

Peter new show and venue change

Hi All!

Peter Morén has added a last minute show in Gothenburg, Sweden on October 18 at Stenhammarsalen (Göteborgs Koncerthus). The show is together with Tobias Fröberg and Wendy McNeill (CAN) and is sure to be a great one!

Also the 10/14 show at Södra Teatern in Stockholm has been moved to Kägelbanan.

Starting September 30th, we are having our Protest Auction, a charity eBay auction in which we are selling all the artist-made protest signs that were featured in our Protest Issue. We are giving the proceeds to War Child International, a non-profit which helps children in areas of armed conflict.

We are auctioning off the signs made by Peter Moren and was wondering if there was any way that some brief mention of the auction could be made on his official website and/or MySpace page and/or via his mailing list?

Our goal is to spread the word about the auction so that we can raise as much money as possible for a noble charity that’s really trying to make a difference in the world.

LONDON SHOW CANCELLED!!!!!!!

Due to circumstances beyond our control the promoter has decided to cancel tomorrow nights scheduled performance at KOKO in London:

It is with regret that Compass Three has had to cancel the show at Koko's
on the 16th September featuring Peter Bjorn and John and the Shout Out Louds. We
are sincerely sorry for the inconvenience caused to the artists and
their fans who we know were looking forward to this show.

By way of an apology we are offering all competition entrants a pair of
tickets to any of our upcoming gigs free of charge (subject to
availability). We will keep you posted on all future shows and where to
purchase tickets, and where possible we will let you know in advance so
that you have priority access.

Stupid Cold!

There is nothing worse then when a stupid cold appears when you least expect it.
Especially when it emerges when you dont want it to.
It´s just so typical that a fucking killer-cold hits when we are in the studio.
So far it has taken over my body and apparently it's spreading. Lasse the tech. / co producer is starting to complain about the same sort of sore throut as mine.
And it feels like you're swallowing razorblades or some ancient killer tool with spikes on it.
The only good thing about it is that the nose is as you say ok. But the recordnings is going good anyhow. Just 3 more tracks to go.

Yo.
On monday we will start the recordings for the next Peter Bjorn and John album if the record company agrees with our budget. The most expensive item is a Saab Quattro that sounds like a violin. We are also taking some days off before the very important weeks in the studio and actually all the three of us will be out of town for the weekend. Peter is building up skills in skiing on snowless ground in "Småland". Bjorn just went to London (England) where he will attend the annual beerconvention. I (John) will go to Piteå and shoot dogs. Today is a special day,

We have been touring on and off for alomst 18 month
and the last stop is Mexico City.

It feels sad and joyful at the same time,
almost like when you have your last day in school before the summer holiday.
But without the sad grades in gymnastics.

Two years ago, we didn´t think this could happen.
So it´s kind of a strange feeling to stop.
But we will be back, we're starting working on the new album the day after tomorrow and if everything goes well
we will be back in the tourbus in 2009.

A little late we know.But we are delighted that 2008 feels so great so far. We have a lot of fun stuff planned. Soon we're going for our first clubgig in Mexico and back to one of our favourite places, Canada. Then we're gonna record new stuff! Now let's brag a little bit.

No, we did'nt win any Swedish grammys, even though Bjorn was nominated as producer and we were nominated by the Swedish government for the special export prize (the Britney Spears producers Bloodshy & Avant took home that award.)

While home resting a bit, we can now fully take in that the american/canadian tour was a great success. Sure, we were sick now and then, maybe in part thanks to the americans love of cold AC, but the shows we're amazing!

Polar, Bjorn and John!

Björn and John both performed at this years Polar Music Awards held in Stockholm on May 21st. Björn played with his jazz ensemble Yttling Jazz and John with leading percussion ensemble Kroumata of which he has been a member for many years.
This year the Polar Music Awards were presented to Steve Reich and Sonny Rollins.
Yup the Swedish King was there.

Sorry - we've been lax at getting the latest news in - it's been pretty hectic as of late.

We've been touring pretty much full stop since the beginning of the year with trips to Australia, Japan, a quick stint in the States at SxSW, Mexico, Iceland, Ireland, UK and France - only to go back to the States where we've just started our ongoing tour with a great start at the Coachella festival.

Some nice people sent us their home movies : that's Bebban of Shout Out Louds who is helping out on Victoria's duties on Young Folks.

Inbetween the live work Björn and John did find some time to spend in the studio with Victoria Bergsman and her new project Taken by Trees - which will be out later this fall, and the three of us also started demoing some new stuff - we'll see what will come out of that!
